Point Pelee Birding October 1, 2009

Arrived at Point Pelee mid afternoon and birded a few trails in preparation for the Annual Ontario Field Ornithologists Conference this weekend. Todd Pepper and I spent a couple of hours walking Woodland Trail and Chinquipin Oak Trail. Overall it was somewhat quiet but there was a bit of activity, mainly Golden-crowned Kinglet. After some pishing and squeaking a few warblers appeared including Black-throated Green, Nashville, Yellow-rumped and a very cooperative Ovenbird. Along the main road a very vocal Yellow-bellied sapsucker made its presents known. For those who bird Pelee during the spring, the fall is definitely a new experience!
